The late dusk of Valeon glowed through the window as I fastened my earrings. Clara watched me from the sofa, her soft smile and knowing. It had been a week since The Emberhall, and the folded note suntil rested on my dresser. I hadn’t expected to open it, much less to write back. Yet here I was, smoothing the fabric of a new dress, preparing for dinner with the man who had written his name Elias Rowan.
Clara rose and touched my arm. “You look calm,” she said. “Not nervous?”
“Not nervous,” I told her. “Just curious. It feels…different this time.”
Outside, the lamps of Valeon flickered to life. Tonight was not about secrets or discovery, it was about understanding what connection could mean beyond the wall.
I turn my focus to Clara my roommate and friend since we were children, and now both of us, who are like sisters and more than that friends who can trust one another, I sighed and I smiled as I said to her, “Clara I think he maybe the one I should be with, I’m not saying this with a spare of the moment or because him and I had sex at the Emberhall, I’m saying that because there is more than that between the two of us, I sense he would be and can be a perfect friend and even husband, and father.”
“Do you know if you are even pregnant Emily?” Clara asked me with a bit of caution in her tone.
I smiled in a reassuring way, and I said, “I’m sure, reason is I can feel small changes but not yet enough for me to be know for sure.”
She sighed and said, “Look, you can do whatever here…” She was going to say as I interrupted her.
“I know, you will not mind if we take things deeper here, but I’m sure we will be doing whatever at his place, he has a candle light dinner for the two of us, and I’m planning to spend the night and more.” I said to her, she knew what I mean.
She took a deep breath, in a more relax tone and smiled as she said, “Oh right Emily I see, I did want to meet this handsome stud of yours though.”
“His name is Elias Rowan also it will be at The Lumen Terrace, where he has reservations for the two of us already.” I said with a smirk.
“Wait you are going to The Lumen Terrace, that is great but should you not be wearing something a bit more fancy than what you are wearing now?” Clara asked me.
“I’m fine Clara, I’m wearing what is comfortable for me, and maybe a bit less than what I normally do, but suntil I’m comfortable.” I said to her, and she smirked, knowing fully well what I meant.
She than said as she put her hands on my shoulders, and took a deep breath and said, “You want to have a bit more than what you already did, do not you?” She asked me.
“I want this to be a perfect night and yes we both have already agreed where this will take us, we will be doing it at his place, I decided to be ready for that.” I said with a smirk.
She nodded and I than left the apartment as I headed to my car and made my way towards The Lumen Terrace where Elias is waiting for met already. It is early but it is fine of course.
Once I’m there I park my car, and I headed inside, someone is there a host and she asked, “Hi welcome to The Lumen Terrance is there just one of you?”
“I’m here with a reservation for Elias Rowen.” I said with a smile.
“Ah yes, come with me we have a table waiting he is already here but told us you may not be here until a little later on.” She than grabbed a menu and said, “Come this way please.”
She than lead me to another area as other people are eating their dinners, and than I see Elias as he stands up surprise and a bit nervous I smile at him, as I walked over to him.
We both hugged in a way that anyone would sense and see we are close friends, although that is partial the truth, we are but we are semi-lovers, as we are suntil developing who and what we are.
Elias smiled and said, as we broke the hug and he went and sat down, “I wasn’t expecting you so soon, I wanted to give you as much time as I could.”
